FRONTIER AND FLOWERS: THE STORY OF FANNY ALLEN – (2024)
Frances Montressor Buchanan Allen Penniman was the second wife of Vermont patriot and Revolutionary War hero, Gen. Ethan Allen. Highly educated and raised in a British tory household in New York she would marry her stepfather’s nemesis, Ethan Allen, and move to his home on the Vermont frontier. There she would manage a household of servants, create gardens in the wilderness, and set new paths amassing the first botanical collection of the region. Through her story we better understand the role of women in the colonial wilderness of New England.
SPREADING HOPE: SHARING OUR STORIES – (2023)
Through examples of personal stories of drug users who both recovered and succumbed, we learn of the dangers and resources for help in this Southern Maryland community.
A CATHEDRAL OF NATURE(2023)
The story of how the American Chestnut Land Trust is preserving natural spaces throughout Southern Maryland. Through its preservation of land, ACLT is co-creating a Cathedral of Nature. It is a sacred place for the human spirit. A place where human beings of every religion, or no religion, can find rest and refreshment for their spirits. A place where the cry of the eagle can be heard, the beavers’ ingenuity can be admired and the movement of the breeze can be felt on silent walks through towering trees.
THE STORY BEHIND THE STATUEand RAISING THE FLAG – (2019)
Produced for the National Park Service, United States Marine War Memorial, Arlington, VA. Two short historical films telling the story of the battle of Iwo Jima, the resulting US Marine War Memorial and the significance of that memorial in honoring America’s fighting troops. The stories are highly personalized, told through researched interviews with participants in the events along with modern visitors and historians.
STEP UP – CHANGE THE FUTURE – (2015)
When nine black high school students entered the all-white Little Rock Central High School in 1957, they were mostly just looking for a better education. What they accomplished went far beyond the few steps they took to enter that school. This film explores the living legacy of the Little Rock Nine connecting their values, goals and strategies with the efforts of high school students today to effect social change in four communities across America. Interviews with the original Little Rock Nine and contemporary teens in Little Rock, Baltimore, Santa Fe and Rosebud Reservation, SD, reveal the power of young people in making the world a better place.
STAFFORD, VIRGINIA: OUR AMERICAN STORY– (2014)
Produced for the 350th anniversary of Stafford County, this 23-minute film engages the viewer in the experience of that history which begins with the Patawomek Indian tribe, John Smith into the 21st century. Extensive archival findings intersperse with re-enactments of colonial industry and trade, the American Revolution, Civil War, Post-war industrialism to bring three and a half centuries of history to the fore.
STRUGGLE AND TRIUMPH: THE LEGACY OF GEORGE WASHINGTON CARVER – (2014)
Recounts the rise of George Washington Carver from humble beginnings and slave roots to national prominence as a scientist, educator and humanitarian. Re-enactments combine with archival sources to recreate Carver’s world and life from the Civil War to World War II. This film is part of a broader educational program for elementary and high school.
THE WAR AT HOME – (2013)
Produced for the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historic Park (Richmond, CA) to show how millions of American women and men worked together in factories and communities across the country toward a common goal during a period of major, irrevocable social change that affected, and was shaped by, everyday people.
HOME FRONT HEROES – (2013)
While The War at Home tells the national story of home front commitments in communities across the country, its companion piece, Home Front Heroes focuses on the more personal experiences of “Rosie the Riveters” and others in Richmond, California, where factories turned out ships, tanks and jeeps in record numbers.
DREAMS AND DILEMMAS: FORT SCOTT AND THE GROWTH OF A NATION – (2009)
Produced for the Fort Scott National Military Park to show how events there mirrored events shaping the US westward expansion, the Mexican War, pioneer movement, slavery vs. free as states were created, the violence of Bleeding Kansas and the Civil War, and the coming of the railroad ending military involvement at the Fort.

The video showcases the seasonal scenic splendor of Great Falls Park through live action HD video shot over four seasons. Produced for NPS, Great Falls National Park Visitors Center.
USS CASSIN YOUNG: A VIDEO TOUR – (2006)
This program provides fully-narrated video tours of the Main Deck and Above/Below Deck spaces of this Fletcher-class destroyer, a National Landmark navel vessel that saw extensive service in the Pacific in World War II.

AUDIOVISUAL PROGRAMS FOR KINGS MOUNTAIN – (2006)
The combined objective of these six audio and three video programs is to place the battle of Kings Mountain within the total context of the American Revolution, depicting the bravery and commitment of men and women on both sides, the ways this battle led to conflicting loyalties between colonists of the same community and even the same family. The ultimate objective was to show the significance of this battle as the primary turning point in the retreat of the British from the American colonies, and their surrender at Yorktown
REMEMBERING MANZANAR – (2004)
The story of how the constitutional rights of a group of people were violated because they “looked like the enemy” is told through the remembrances of people - many of them American citizens - who were interned at Manzanar during World War II. Produced for the National Park Service, Manzanar National Historic Site, Lone Pine, CA.

Shown at DAR Constitution Hall during the Horatio Alger 2004 Annual Awards. The presentation traces the roots of our Constitution and the values consistent with the Association itself.

A motivational half hour film, produced by the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, broadcast on PBS and syndicated nationwide. This program brings together determined high school seniors to meet ten highly successful men and women. Overcoming adversity to reach the American dream is the challenge that brings these two groups together.

A one-hour public information documentary on HIV/AIDS sponsored by the American Red Cross and syndicated for broadcast nationally. The goal was to educate viewers about the realities of the AIDS epidemic in its medical, personal and social aspects at a time when it was new and frequently misunderstood.
